Pilgrimage by Horses and Bicycles

Pilgrimage by Horse Pilgrimage by Bicycles Horses

Unfortunately, this mode is not yet possible. It is difficult to stable them for the night, and it is the Pilgrim’s job to mount a site and provide a support car with straw and fodder.Anyhow, if you ride a horse, you should plan ahead stretches of 20 to 30 miles, checking previously the places where you plan to spend the night.

Bicycles

If this is your choice, you should do some previous practice with your bike loaded. Use a saddle-bag instead of the traditional knapsack. Place it either over the back or front wheel and plan stretches of 20 to 30 miles. Be aware that the Portuguese Way has, now and then, very strenuous stretches even if you have a top-of-the-range mountain bike. These locations are always pointed out in the maps, showing an alternative.

Bring a small tools box and some spare parts for an emergency but do not bring too many as you will always find a local garage to solve the most difficult problems. Do not forget a chain to lock it for the night.
